Friedrich III

Friedrich III (born 21 September 1415 in Innsbruck – † 19 August 1493 in Linz) of the House of Habsburg was Frederick V of Habsburg. 1424 Duke of Styria, Carinthia and Carniola, from 1439 Duke of Austria, when Frederick III became King of the Holy Roman Empire in 1440 and from 1452 until his death Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. He was the penultimate Holy Roman Emperor to be crowned by the Pope, and the last to be crowned in Rome.

Frederick's reign was the longest of all the Roman-German Ruler. Under him, the center of power shifted from Bohemia to the inner-Austrian hereditary lands (Styria, Carinthia, Carniola) on the southeastern periphery of the empire.

After a vow, he left for Rome in November 1468 to Pope Paul II founded the Order of St. George and thus established the 2nd Order of St. George religious period. And on January 1, 1469, John Siebenhirter appointed as 1st Grand Master.

Also for Frederick's son Maximilian "the last knight", the order was of great importance. And of such great importance that he seriously considered even the succession of Johann Siebenhirter as Grand Master of the Order.
